About

This is TinTent in the flesh. She’s a VW T4 converted into a motor-home by Mill Garage, Duns in the Scottish Borders. The awning is a Khyam Motordome Classic.
We’re almost an average family. Two kids under 10 (one is co-author of this blog) and their parents. Dad is disabled, using a wheelchair part time, especially first thing in the morning and when walking any distance.
The VW has a 2.5TDi engine with 4 speed automatic gearbox. It has recently had central locking added to the front doors, no electric windows or mirrors etc, but it does have air conditioning. The front passenger seat swivels round to face the rear.
In the back; we have a fridge, two burner stove with grill (extremely good for toast!), a small sink and drainer. There is a rock and roll bed for the olds and a bed in the hi-top roof for the youngs. This high bed slides home to give standing headroom, even for me at 6′5″. It also provides very useful transit storage.
Plenty of storage: under the sink, under the bed and a large wardrobe/main cupboard. There is also a large cupboard up above the rear seats/bed, in the hi-top roof. Also under the bed is room for the Porta-Potti and the optional gas heating (we’ve not fitted this).
Boot space is accessed through a lifting tailgate (handy in the rain). There is more storage under the bed / seat and rear access to the large cupboard.
Finally, a mod to the headlights because they really were useless. These were easily converted to HiD using an upgrade kit.
